Policies & Procedures

Please read our policies and procedures before booking the course.

Certification

Certificates will be issued after you successfully complete the training course. If you do not receive your certificate, please contact us within one week of completing the course.

If you contact us more than one month after the course date, an administration fee will be charged to search for your records. Training records are kept and can be verified for up to six months after the course.

Recertifications

Participants are responsible for ensuring they qualify for a recertification course before registering. You must bring proof of a valid, unexpired certificate to the class. Failure to provide the required documentation, or providing incorrect documentation, will result in denial of entry.

To be eligible for recertification, your current certificate may be from any recognized training provider, must be valid and not expired, and must not have already been recertified, as certificates can only be recertified once. Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet these requirements before registering for a recertification course.

Academy4career First Aid & CPR is not responsible if a participant registers for a recertification course without meeting these requirements. No refunds will be issued for incorrectly booked recertification courses.

Cancellations Due to Instructor Illness or Emergency

If a class is cancelled, the organization will make every effort to find a replacement instructor. If a replacement instructor is not available, the class will be rescheduled to a later date.

In the event of a class cancellation, participants may choose to receive a full refund or transfer their registration to a future class date at no additional cost.

The organization is not responsible for cancellations caused by circumstances beyond its control, such as public health emergencies, natural disasters, government restrictions, or other unforeseen events that require the training facility to close.

Classes may also be cancelled if the minimum number of participants required for the course is not reached. In these cases, participants will receive a full refund or may choose to rebook for another available date.

Inclement Weather

Our organization follows the local public school board's weather closure policy. To find out if a class has been cancelled due to severe weather, please check the website of your local school board.

If schools in your region are officially closed, our class will also be cancelled. If schools remain open, classes will proceed as scheduled. Bus cancellations alone do not result in class cancellations. Participants are responsible for checking school board announcements before traveling to class.

Health Issues

To attend a class, participants must confirm online and again at the training venue that they are not experiencing symptoms that could pose a health risk to others. This includes severe breathing difficulties, chest pain, loss of consciousness, fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, or other symptoms of illness.

Participants may also be required to disclose recent travel outside Canada or close contact with individuals who are ill or suspected of having a contagious illness.

For the safety of all participants and instructors, entry may be denied to anyone who refuses to provide the required health information, provides false or incomplete information, or reports symptoms that may pose a health and safety risk to themselves or others. If entry is denied for any of these reasons, no refund or rebooking will be provided.

Do You Have Any Medical Conditions?

Please inform the instructor as soon as possible if you have any medical condition, injury, disability, or physical limitation that may affect your participation in the course. Examples include joint pain, pregnancy, respiratory conditions, recent surgery, or any other condition that may impact your ability to perform course activities.

Sharing this information helps the instructor make appropriate accommodations and ensure your safety during training.

Accompanying Children

To ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all participants, children and infants are not permitted in the classroom. Previous experience has shown that the presence of young children can disrupt both teaching and learning activities.

The organization does not provide child-care or child-minding services. Participants who arrive with a child or infant will not be permitted to attend the class. Please arrange appropriate child care before attending your course.

Refunds, Cancellations, and Re-bookings

Academy4career First Aid & CPR ("the organization") allows refunds, cancellations, and course rebookings if you provide at least 72 hours' notice before your class. A $30 administration fee will be charged to cover the cost of filling the vacant seat.

Requests for refunds, cancellations, or rebookings will not be accepted if you have previously cancelled or postponed a course. If you fail to complete the required online blended learning portion before the class and need to reschedule, a rebooking fee equal to 60% of the course fee will apply. To avoid problems, participants should complete the online portion at least one day before the class. Technical support is not available after hours on the evening before the course, and participants are responsible for completing the online learning before attending.

Refunds will not be provided to participants who fail to follow the organization's instructions or applicable federal, provincial, or municipal laws. The organization reserves the right to deny refunds or rebookings to participants who do not attend the course (no-show), provide insufficient notice of absence, attend the wrong training location, arrive too late to be admitted, or fail to complete the required online learning component before the course.

All refund, cancellation, and rebooking requests must be submitted by email to ensure proper documentation.

If you miss a class due to an infectious illness, you may be required to provide proof that you are no longer contagious before attending a future class. The organization may deny a refund or rebooking if health and safety requirements are not followed.

Full attendance is required to receive certification. Participants who arrive more than 30 minutes late or after the course has progressed beyond the first chapter will not be allowed to enter the class. No refund will be issued in these situations, and a rebooking fee will apply.

Code of Conduct and Classroom Behaviour

To maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, participants are expected to behave professionally and follow all instructor and staff directions.

Entry may be denied, or participants may be removed from the course for disruptive or inappropriate behaviour, including swearing or offensive language, arguing, bullying, threatening others, disrespecting staff or participants, disrupting or delaying the class, ignoring instructions, failing to follow health and safety requirements, sleeping during the course, refusing to participate in learning activities, excessive talking, taking excessive breaks, spending unnecessary time away from the classroom, or engaging in any behaviour that negatively affects the learning experience of others.
